Hi readers! This month’s challenge is to think about your personal space, how it effects you and to make it a little bit better.
I don’t know about you, but I love my personal space. I’m an introvert and find immense joy and peace in spending time in my home. I like for my apartment to be my personal little haven. I like to have my space reflect things, colors and themes that I enjoy.
I believe that the spaces we reside in or spend our time in can have positive or negative effects on our mental states. This is why I believe it’s important to make your home as pleasing, relaxing and comfortable as possible so that you can feel refreshed and happy in it, ready to take on life when you leave for the day.
With that in mind, this year I am slowly redecorating my place to be a more comfortable and happy environment. I am actively trying to make my life better, more peaceful and happier and I think that all of that starts at home. So making my place better is an ongoing project.
Since I don’t have the money to redecorate all at once, I’m doing it bit by bit. Each week I buy something or rearrange something (whatever) to make my home a happier, more interesting place to be. For example, I love looking at beautiful art and photos. I have really been loving medeteranean and tropical scenes lately. By chance, I found a stunning photo print on a canvas of a seaside in Greece (shown below) at a local discount store. I snatched it up, put it on the dresser in front of my bed so that I can wake up looking at something beautiful and soothing. (The photo I took does not do this print justice!)
This small change gives me joy and makes me like my life a little bit more. So my challenge to you is to create a little space (or a big space if you’ve got the cash) for yourself in your home. Make your space something that is beautiful to you and a space that brings you joy. It can be a redecorated space, an item you buy, a space you fill with things you like or a space you find that brings peace into your life. Whatever it is, make it yours and enjoy it.
